LIGASURE TISSUE FUSION SYSTEM PRODUCT GUIDE
1. General Description and Working Principle
LigaSure vessel sealing and cutting device is used in surgical operations for tissue and vessel sealing, bipolar It is an advanced electrosurgical system based on radiofrequency (RF) energy and pressure . Compared to traditional sutures, titanium clips, or classic cautery methods, it provides a safer, faster, and more controlled surgical environment.
Working Principle
Instead of cauterizing (carbonizing) tissue by burning it like classic cautery devices, the Ligasure vascular sealing and cutting device offers the surgeon a unique combination of pressure and energy that dissolves collagen and elastin in the tissue walls . In this way, Ligasure vascular sealing and cutting devices create a natural, permanent, and extremely strong fusion (biological bond) by altering the body's own building blocks. Ligasure devices eliminate the need for sutures or titanium clips, shortening operation time and accelerating the patient's recovery process.
2. Ligasure Key Engineering and Safety Features of the dmar Sealing and Cutting Device
- TissueFect ™ Smart Detection Technology: The Ligasure device checks the tissue resistance at the probe tip thousands of times per second. It automatically adjusts the amount of energy it needs to deliver according to the changing tissue thickness, detects the moment the tissue is sealed, and automatically cuts off the energy.
- 7 mm Vein Safety Dam: The Ligsure device permanently seals blood vessels and lymphatic pathways up to 7 mm ( inclusive ) in diameter with a force capable of withstanding up to 3 times the normal human systolic blood pressure.
- Minimum Thermal Diffusion ( Lateral Damage): The Ligasure device focuses energy only on the target tissue between the jaws of the handpiece. Heat spread to surrounding healthy tissues is limited to only 1-2 mm . The Ligasure device minimizes the risk of critical organ and nerve injury.
- Nano - Coating Technology: The special coating on the jaws of the new generation Ligasure instrument probes significantly reduces tissue adhesion to the instrument during surgery and minimizes the need for constant cleaning by the surgeon.
- Smart Chip Integration: Thanks to the smart chip located in the sockets of the Ligasure device's probes , the cautery device (FMD E200A) instantly recognizes the original probe model being attached and automatically adjusts the energy level specific to that model.
- Smoke and Odor Reduction: Ligasurs produce significantly less smoke and odor in the operating room compared to classic electrosurgery , keeping the surgeon's field of vision clear.
3. Surgical and Clinical Advantages
- Time Saving: Ligasure devices significantly shorten surgery times by reducing the steps involved in suturing, tying, or placing clips.
- Reliable Hemostasis : Minimizes the risk of bleeding during and after surgery, providing superior bleeding control.
- Reduces the Use of Foreign Materials: Significantly eliminates the need to leave permanent clips, staples, or threads in the body .
- Sealing and Cutting Combined: Most probes contain both energy triggers that seal the vessel and a mechanical blade clamp that cuts the sealed tissue in half. The surgeon completes two procedures with a single instrument.
⚠️ Important Note: Most LigaSure handpieces ( probes ) are single-use and work specifically for each patient.
4. Original Covidien ( Medtronic ) Probe Types and Applications
LigaSure The probes are specifically designed according to the type of surgery (open or laparoscopic ) and the structure of the tissue to be treated .
A. Laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive Surgery) Probes
generally used in surgeries performed through incisions in the navel or small incisions . They are designed to be long and thin so that they can pass through trocars ( cannulas ) (37 cm and 44 cm shaft options are available).
| Prop Name / Model | Product Codes | Design Features | Most Common Areas of Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| LigaSure Maryland | LF1937 / LF1944 | His chin is slightly angled outwards. This allows for both tissue separation ( bluntness) . (Dissection ) serves both for sealing and cutting. | It is the most frequently preferred model for multi-functional laparoscopic surgery. |
| LigaSure Blunt Tip | LF1837 / LF1844 | It has a flat, blunt tip and a very strong jaw structure. | Ideal for gripping and securely sealing large and thick tissue packs in a single motion. |
| LigaSure Retractable L- Hook | LF5637 / LF5644 | It is multi-functional; a monopolar "L- hook " is released from it with a single button press. | LigaSure sealing and classic cauterization (scraping) without changing instruments . |
| LigaSure V | Code dependent | It is a model with a very high ability to grasp texture. | laparoscopic gynecological and urological surgeries. |
B. Open Surgical Probes
instruments designed to fit the anatomy of the surgeon's hand, usually in the form of scissors or forceps, with a shorter body and a strong gripping mechanism, suitable for open surgery .
| Prop Name / Model | Product Codes | Design Features | Most Common Areas of Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| LigaSure Small Jaw | LF1212A | It is approximately 19 cm long, has a small jaw, and very little heat transfer to the surrounding tissue. | Especially in narrow and sensitive areas such as thyroid ( thyroidectomy ), head and neck surgery, or plastic surgery . |
| LigaSure Exact Dissector | LF2019 | Its slim, curved jaws provide high visibility around critical vessels. It has a very rapid cooling capability. | Current open surgical procedures requiring delicate dissection (tissue separation) . |
| LigaSure Impact | LF4418 | It is 18 cm long and has a thick, curved, and broad jaw structure. | Sealing thick tissue blocks in major abdominal surgeries, colon resections, and liver surgeries . |
